forcing bta's to host

Is there a way to force a bta to host my two ocellaris's. As in putting them into a smaller container for a while.

Just give it time and it may happen. There is no way to "force" it. Some clowns.....especially captive bred clowns.....never host an anemone. The lack of desire on the clowns part is not because they are unaware of the anemone.

Yes, patience is the key to about everything around here. :D

I feel your pain. I had a BTA before and my Occ. clowns wouldn't even go near it. I now have a new one and within 12 hours they both are hosting in it. So patience is your best friend, but I have heard that Occ. clowns can be very picky and may not ever host.

Doesn't make a difference if they are captive bred or not, the instinct is natural...BTA's hosting Occ's is not...

cant force a bta to host a clown but you can force a clown to host in a bta.....well some clowns at least.

this is my experience.....i have a carpet nem and naturally i wanted a clown hosting in it, so i went and got me a black and white clown (tank bred at that) held it by its tail (gently) and just shoved it face into the carpet nem, kinda cruel i guess but hey it worked! infact it worked so great i was compelled to get two more black and white clowns just to test the success rate of this force hosting method...did the same on both of the new clowns, this time both just swam away from it at first but i guess over night they changed their mind cuz the next morning there they were all three of them in the carpet nem doing there little dominance rituals.

I've tried this. It's worked 2 for 2, granted, it's only 2 tries. I usually keep them in a container (floating in the tank so they don't get cold) for about an hour, changing a little water, and keeping just enough water in the container to keep them all wet, forcing them to swim in the nem. It's worked with a BTA, and a LTA for me (occ for the BTA, about 1 inch, true percs [onyx]for the LTA, 1/4 inch babies). I got the idea from Rod when I bought his babies. It has worked for me.
