I'm having a hard time finding definitive info on brooklynella. I've been using formalin, the standard treatment, without very good results. I'm hoping hypo will kill brook as it does other protozoans?
I bought a swallowtail angel a few weeks back. It developed soft, white, fuzzy patches on the fins. Seems to be (from what I've read) brooklynella so I did a 1hr formalin bath at 20drops/gal and spots seemed to get better. Spots returned in quarantine. Repeated formalin bath and also added formalin to quarantine tank at 1 drop/gallon.
Spots seemed mostly unaffected so I've gone to hypo. The fish has eaten through all of this. She has looked very stressed at times, but overall health doesn't seem too severely affected yet. Spots only appear on fins. Best pics I could get:
(This is not lymphocystis)
