found crab bad?

It is probably a carnivore. There are so many unidentified crabs. It is possible that it is a gorilla crab.

Yeah I had one of those that was sold to me as an emerald crab. That thing doubled in size in two months and started eating zoas and xenia( which wasn't such a bad thing). I couldn't even put my hand near it without it trying to claw me. It was only a matter of time before he took a fish.

I'm not sure exactly what species of crab it is. It looks like a crab in the family Xanthidae. A lot of them have black tips on their claws. But like I always say when in doubt take it out.

marylee- if its a true crab with 8 legs, its a carnivore and should be removed. somone please correct me if im mistaken.

A crab with 8 legs? Crabs are decapods (phylum arthropoda, class malacostraca, order decapoda), meaning literally "ten footed".

That is true chris. Years ago I had a couple sea spiders Pycnogonia come in on a coral order. They are freaky looking. There's about 1200 species of sea spiders and about 350 in the Indo-Pacific. Mine were Endeis sp. very small and thin I kept them for a little while in a refugium then eventually they disappeared.
