The following items were found in poolkeeper's sand.

2 Razor blades
1 set of nail tacks
Countless Shells

So Bill, is the Secret to the tank the introduction of trace metals? Glad these things were so rusty they could not hurt.

Bill, thanks again for the great deal on the sand. It washed out very well and looks good. hopefully we dont have much of a spike.

The size of my tank was very hard to clean the rear sections of the side glass, Alas the Razor blades Glad no one got hurt) But when you drop one it's gone and no way to get it. After being up almost 4 years that's not too bad.
The shells are just dead cleanup crews of the past, I actually took out all the large Turbo's Rhett sold me that died after a couple of weeks, They were the size of Golf Balls:hammer::lolspin::hammer:
Glad it all cleaned up pretty easy and it does look great, At around 40.00 per bag you saved big money. I do have some nice frags for sale and I have all your old pieces that Zach bought from you too. Plus some frags of your Stylo that I'll give you one back Gratis...

thats funny I dropped a razorblade in my tank just yesterday and It took me over an hour of pulling out rock to find it.....there were many times I thought about saying just f*@% it.....and I only have a 75! I cant imagine trying to get a blade out from behind rock in a 285!

Thanks bill! Ill take you up on that offer in a few months. I'm sure im in for one heck of a cycle. I havent started a new tank in like 8 years!

If your rock was still in good shape you should be done in a week or two, If not i would keep an eye on thos Parameters and if they go through the roof watch them fish as they may be history. But I'll bet it goes very fast as that sand still had Bacteria no matter how bad it smelled (Kinda like a kick start) You may try some Quick Start that AC has It worked great for me, Just make sure It's Fresh and not out of date.

I wont be back in Nashville for a month, so we will just tough it out. the rock I had was 50/50 his live rock and my former live rock that was left to dry out, brushed and rinsed. the two have been soaking together for about a week. we washed the sand really good in a strainer and a bucket of water. if anything is left, it is tough stuffs. while my son will beg to differ, I have no investment in the fish. that said, the Clown is Larry and the goby is Homer simpson per the former owner.

maybe the smell of that sand will be out of my car by the next meeting!! almost smells like a whale with a hangover and b.o. took a massive dump in my backseat and then laid in it and died!! :lolspin:
