Found Some Eggs On The Glass Tank

Hi

Another question (always seem to be asking and not answering but hopefully soon i will be able to answer ) have just found this batch of what look like small balls all stuck to the glass in only one place that i can see which i assume are eggs. but what could have laid them?

All i have in the tank (25 Gallon) is 2 pyjama cardinals, 2 domino damsels, 2 blue damselfish, 3 cleaner shrimp, 2 fireshrimp, a lawnmower blenny and a crimson starfish plus an unknown tankmate that i think i have had answered

Any ideas most appreciated they were laid in the vicinity of the unkown tankmate

look a lot like the nassarius obsoleta snail eggs i had in my tank.. the shrimps will eat them before too long... i acutally had 2 survive into babies in my spare tank...

Thanks for such a quick reply mate but i haven't got any snails and never have, the tank has been running for about 4 months now

Is anything defending them? liek the damsels?

They arent spawn from anything else you have fish shrimp wise as they dont spawn like that.

They look like to few and tightly packed to be any fish, i would guess it is some hitch hicker on your rock that came out to play one evening.

I'm thinking either damsels, or a type of snail. Whether you put them in or not. I suspect you have live rock, so a hitchiker may have hitched. But they almost look like damsel eggs.

Well, you can rule out most everything except the 2 domino damsels and 2 blue damselfish, but I personally have to wonder if either of these damselfish "pairs" you have are mature enough to spawn ('cause if they were, I'd suspect they wouldn't all get along in a 25 gallon). Also, if they were damsel eggs wouldn't ONE of them be tending / defending them?

It *could* be your lawnmower blenny, if it's a female and decided to lay eggs without a mate, but the only reason I'd hedge this guess is based on my experiences with our E. graveri...the eggs were laid in a semi-open cave, kinda looked similar, but again, if it was your lawnmower blenny they wouldn't be fertile anyways AND here too, I'd expect that you'd notice some sort of parental care.

So, with all that said, I have to concur - I'm all for the eggs coming from some sort of snails.
