I have a one spot foxface and a bryopsis problem......the only thing he eats are the pelets I feed him....is there anything that I can do to coax him into eating the bryopsis?

My magnificent fox face devours all types of algae. I guess it's just hit or miss with them.

Carbon dosing was the key for me. I started with 3ml of vinegar twice a day for 3 days then upped it to 5 ml twice a day for 3 days. I did this till I reached 15ml twice a day. I haven't experienced any bacteria blooms yet but things look really go so I stopped at this dose. I have been maintaining this dose for the past 2 weeks and no bryopsis has returned. It's the cheapest and safest thing to try.

You don't have to go the tech-m root.. I had a battle with it and what worked for me is a 3 day solid lights out. along with manual removal etc.. It's photosynthetic.. The tech-m root to me seems excessively tricky... You will not lose any corals you might have.. Mine was filled with sps, Los, clams etc... Didn't lose a single thing. During he lights out, I also replaced my Rodi filters and bulbs.. Have had zero trouble since

What I think I may do is take as much out as possible then 3 days lights out to hit it when its weak.......so no led no nothing correct?

Ok and no one has had it come back after that? But also feed fish and coral if open?

Do a search on the main forum. Lights out will stop it for the time being but you have to solve the problem. It will come back

Alrighty then....difficult to decide because the vodka dosing is gonna take a while to show results. So I think I'm gonna do lights out and then either vodka or lanthanum dosing?

Is it the same dosing rules?....I have a chart for vodka but not vinegar.

I believe it's supposed to be 8x the amount for vinegar compared to vodka. I started at a very low dose and worked up.

I'm gonna start the lights out for 3 days and hope everything makes it! Anyone reccomed feeding while lights out or leave it alone?
Light depravation is not my favorite thing. Not a tech m fan either,mystery impurities oh my. Lights out may slow it and any other photosynthetic organisms down and stress them all. Persistent removal, low nutrients and removal of detritus buildup will get rid of it with patience and persistence.
if its just a patch or two dribbling on some kalk paste will kill it and stop it.
As for vodka and vinegar they are almost the same thing. Ethanol (vodka) oxidizes to acetic acid (vinegar). Acetic acid is often called ethonic acid. They both form acetate which bacteria and other organisms can use. Vinegar spikes pH down when you dose it since it releases H, so it needs to be dosed slowly during photosynthetic periods. Vodka can be bolus dosed without that effect on pH. Over the long term they both add about the same amount of CO2 from bacterial; activity and have an equal effect on pH but vinegar dumps H right off the bat and then recovers oxides to balance it out. So, it can be trickier to dose it. I use mostly vodka and jsut a little vinegar.
