Foxface in a 65G?

Is a 65G sufficient to keep this fish happy? I am seeing conflicting opinion's on the minimum tank size required for these guys on the web. I found one at the LFS that is about 3", how fast do they grow? I don't really care for how the fish looks (pretty dull IMO) but I hear they can be good at eating algae. I know my tank isn't large enough for a Tang so I am hoping the Foxface may work out. Thanks for the help.

Some Tang's only reach like 7".....size isn't what makes them unsuitable for a smaller tank. I understand that a Foxface may get a little larger but that doesn't mean it won't be happy in a 65G tank. That is what I am trying to figure out and not the fact they can get as large as as some Tangs. Someone has to have some input.

I was speaking from experience.

It isn't a Foxface, but a Doliatus. It grew from three and half inches to over seven in the last three years. In one year it grew about an inch and a half easily.

They are good at eating some algae i.e. turf algae they won't help with bubble algae. They forage all day looking for algae. 36" tank is just too small length wise for these fish to be happy in my opinion.

Like many fish, if they get stressed they will get ich they are not immune from it.

I have to agree with raddogz, the foxface gets too big and is too active a fish for a 65g. I have a 65g tank and a 125g tank. My foxface is 6 inches long and fat. He is very active. I can't imagine putting him in my 65. Oh, and bye the way I think it quite a beautiful fish, not dull at all in my opinion.

I've got a small foxface in my 65. He's maybe 3 inches. I know he will outgrow the tank, but I will either get a bigger tank or trade in for a smaller foxface. I hope to have him for at least a couple of years.

He doesn't eat too much algae growing in the tank but he will quickly down what is attached to a clip.

I asked the same question a while back and got both positive and negative responses.

Thanks for the input guys, that's what I was looking for. If he is too active for a 65G then I will pass on him. Thanks again.

Don't get me wrong, I think a small foxface (like yeldarbj's) would be okay in a 65 for a while, you would just have to eventually move him to larger living quarters.
