Foxface safe with shrimp?

I've had my mag foxface for a little over 6 months now. In that time I've had 6 peppermints and a cleaner shrimp all go missing. I read somewhere else that foxfaces will eat a shrimp if they're in the same tank, I'm wondering if anyone here can shed some light on that for me. Because I'd hate to buy more shrimp only to have them end up an expensive meal for my fish.

I have a foxface with 2 peppermints and a cleaner for 2 months no problem. I feed 2 times a day and keep him fat so that may have something to do with it

I've had a Foxface with a cleaner and a fireshrimp for 9 months with no problems, but I too feed him well...

As above it should be fine if you keep it well fed, even if you don't they are normally well behaved.

i have a foxface with all sorts of inverts and he never went after anything

Thanks everyone. My LFS has a pair of fire shrimp that I've been wanting to add but, I didn't want to if they were just going to be food.

Well instead of trying the fire shrimp I figured I'd move my full grown cleaner shrimp pair from my nano tank and put them into my 75g reef. I figured that maybe if the shrimp were larger he wouldn't mess with them.
Well, I put them in just before the lights went out last and come home from work today to find only a pair of antennae on the sand bed. So the stupid foxface just had a $40 meal of shrimp. :mad2:

I don't think so, my rockwork is very open and I can see almost every spot, the shrimp were almost 2 inches long.

How large is your foxface?

He's gotta be about 5-6 inches now.

I know that, the shrimp was half the size of the wrasse though. I've also heard other people say they couldn't keep foxfaces with shrimp

I have a coral banded shrimp in my tank and the foxface does not bother him but they are a pretty fiesty shrimp compared to most. If you want a shrimp, that might be a better pick.

I have always had a fox in my tank. And I have always had them w many shrimps at a time. Never had a problem w any of them.

I'm fairly confident saying that you guys are right. Not only did that pair go missing, I added a sixline wrasse to my nano tank and again the very next day my cleaner had disappeared.
