 Hello - I am wondering if anyone can help me. I just recently bought a Foxface for my salt water tank & he's not doing well. He's eating the alege however, he seems to be loosing weight & sits on the rocks with his fins up & displayed. Any idea what else they eat besides the alege? I tried to feed him some brine shrimp which he seemed interested in but wouldn't eat. Thanks!!

He may still be stressed from shipping, some fish take time to settle in,how long have you had him? Did you quarantine?
Rob.

Hello.........thanks for your reply. No I didn't quarentine him - maybe thats it - he seemed to be doing fine though up until yesterday. I bought him last Saturday. I have 2 percula's & 2 urchins in the tank with him that seem fine. I've tested the water and that seems fine. Do they eat something other than alage??

is he white?
mine goes into freak out mode when he's scared. he changes color, flares up his fins and doesn't move.
he gets over it though. took him a week or so to feel at home in my tank.

Mine still goes into panic attack mode very often, needs xanax or something. Goes into fin up lock-down mode. Will take some time to get comfortable and relax. I helps if you associate your presence with a little snack. Mine will eat most anything. Loves dried seaweed, formula 1 and 2 pellets (has small mouth so small pellets easiest for him), but favorite is flake food. Not quite so excited about mysis.

ha!! So maybe he's just scared - well I suppose that could be it if so that cracks me up. Thanks so much for all your help - i'll relax a little now - if/when he comes out from behind the rocks :)

yeah foxfaces will lay almost complety frozen and be all kinds of pale colors, give him some time to adjust and relax

mine didn't come out and eat for almost 2 weeks at first. he still is a little skittish at times but eats well. i put in seaweed clips and he loves the pellets.

What size tank is it? My FF went into my 55 gallon for about six months before moving to our 125. In the 55 he was very skittish and it was almost impossible to look at him without himt darting behind the rocks. Now in the 125 he's out all the time and gets along great with both my tangs.
