I would like to get some feedback on how we should conduct the event.
Last time, we had an early sale for stuff with fixed pricing, then we began an auction. I liked this fromat. It gives those who wish to sell or trade stuff a chance to do so before the auction.
I know that some people also had stuff given to them by genurosity or trade and they don't feel right with auctioning them off, so this is a good way to sell or trade them for a cheap fixed price. On the other hand, some corals are very exotic and expensive. This is a way to sell those high dollar items without taking a big loss with the risk of the auction format. I sold a $40 moon coral frag for $3 last time. That went to Rich, which I believe is now in your tank Gary. . . .
The other advantage to this is that the leftovers from the sale can then be auctioned if the seller desires. I think this worked out very well for John and Ed last time.
As for the auction, I am in huge favor of using the computer program to run the auction. It kept things simple and no money exchanges hands until the end of the auction. That way if you buy and sell stuff, you only have to handle money one time. The computer program will keep tabs of all the transactions.
At the last event, I think more people came to the event than anticipated, because not all the hobbyists are active here on RC.
I am working to get a copy of the new program that FRAG uses.
