Ok folks, for starters, I still consider myself a newbie. I know a lot but feel I need to learn a lot more! I don't have any gadgets except my own RO/DI Spectrapure unit. All additives are added by hand and all topoffs are by hand, which is a PITA but I'm just taking baby steps here!!
My Tank:
-120g DSB started in December of 2006
-no refugium. Currently working on a project that will rectify that situation. It will be a stacked display refugium that sits beside the tank.
-Fluval Fx 5 canister filter. No laughing:) I didn't know any better when I bought the tank. So for now I'm just gonna make do. 1 sponge in there. No carbon.
-2 1100 Seio's, 1 1200 Maxijet
-Recently upgraded from 4 65w pc's to 2 x 250w mh/4 54w T5 combo. This has only been up for 2 weeks and boy can I see a difference.
-Tank is mixed. Bought first acro last week.
-I use Instant Ocean Salt and do biweekly water changes along with siphoning.
-As far as additives, I have just switced from Kalk to Bionic which is a 2 part system for Calcium. I use kent super buffer when needed. I add selcon and iodine weekly to the tank. I add phytofeast biweekly.

I think that's it for tank description. Here are my parameters
-Calcium- currently 380 trying to bring back up to 425 slowly. Dropped when I changed out sand.
-dkh between 9-10
-ph 8.4
-no3 between 5-10. Hopefully the new refugium will help this.
-mag is 1100 and just started learning about how to raise that.
-temp runs between 78 in am to 81 in pm. I am still breaking in the new lights. I have had them 2 weeks and am running the mh for 5 hours now. The T5's run from 7:30am to 8p. I just ordered some more fans to go in the canopy to bring temp down and keep more stable. My new lights also have 9 blue moonlights and 9 white moonlights so that I can try to start simulating the moon's cycle as well.
I am really excited to be taking part in this. I think as always with this hobby it will be a great learning experience.
Great idea Kirsten and Tiff!!

Please come see me at the Auction to pick up your corals. We will give them a week to acclimate to your tanks and then ask for pics! :D

I know this is last minute but I have a fire interview today and it's from 2-4. any westsideers able to pick up the coral for me? I'd appreciate it.

OK week #1

I wasn't expecting pics so soon, but that's cool. :)

I'll get a one week pic tomorrow, but for now and for reference, here is the pic of the coral on the first day in the tank, last Sunday. Kirsten can confirm that this one had the bleaching on the bottom when I picked it up at PROP.

Day 1:

I'd like to get in. I have a frag of Kirsten's yellow tubinaria from a couple of months ago. It's doing great, and I too would like to track it's progress. I'll post system details and pics in just a bit. I think that AA has a really large colony in their display tank. Has anybody seen it?
