Frag Swap or just a get together...

OK this is more complicated than I thought! I do remember the whole P&C thing now. So maybe we can have one at John’s the first weekend in August? Then we could have one at Jackson’s in October. That would be cool with me if other people are free then…

Should we check with SteveL and see if he is interested in coming and if he is free that weekend? I know he always has lots of frags and it would be really cool if he could make it…

I can host Sunday July 29 or Sunday, August 26. Those are the only weekends I'm free until September. If one of those dates works for you all then I'm game. If you'd rather have flar92 host the first one then I'll host in early Nov, that's cool with me too.

Just let me know what works for everyone.

Well I think the rock will be cured by sometime in August. Due to the fact that I will have to make a road trip to Florida with my brother for a couple of weeks in August I will not be able to host any meets till September, so if someone else wants to host go ahead. I think an October meet would be nice ,that way we can share our MACNA stories plus the weather will not be bad yet. I will do that on the 14th(sunday 10/14/07). Sorry for any confusion ... I just found out yesterday about the Florida trip.

Wow, that's a long time for the rock. Are the rocks still in the stream or in trash cans? What is the current ph? Anybody know any "tricks" to expedite the curing process? My rock, albeit relatively small has been cured for some time. Are any of the smaller pieces ready. I guess i am expewriencing some u8rgency since we are getting musch closer to filling the tank. I was hoping to have something to display by August since that would benefit the zoo. I suppose i could use the rock I have purchased and rearrange it when the DIY rock is ready. Regarding the meet, no problem postponing till September.

It's up to the people with corals. If there's stuff available I'm more than happy to host. If not, then we should probably wait.

You could be third in line to host a swap. I dont have anything really to swap but I might have enough room.

I guess I'll hold off on hosting a swap at this point. There seems to be a bit of interest from buyers, but not much from sellers.

Summer time is really slow. Neither URS or URSNY have frag swaps during the summer because of the lack of interest. Once the holidays start coming up and the weather becomes less inviting, interest in frag swaps will pickup again. That will also give some of us up and coming coral farmers and chance to grow out a few more corals for sale/trade. I know Vince, Adam, and I are just getting our prop systems up and running now so in a few months hopefully there will be some more corals to go around.

This actually reminds me does everyone in our area actually know about our forum? I was over at Mike’s the other night and he mentioned that there may be some people that don’t even know about STRS yet. Can anyone think of someone we may have left out? We should contact them by PM or whatever to personally invite them so that everyone can stay up-to-date one what is happing in our area as far as frag meets and whatnot.
