Frag Swap Question EVERYONE PLEASE READ

I have a few questions about the frag auction, the original plan was to have a swap type set-up where a buy would buy table space and sell whatever they liked. This seemed to work very well for the rockford club last spring. There have been several interested people from out of town who have stated they would be interested in comming to the event if it was this swap type set-up instead of an auction.

As this is our club and everyone gets a say my question is which would people rather have, the auction type or the swap type.

I'll leave this up for a few days and those who answer will count as the voice, if you want your voice heard POST otherwise the decisions will be made, not comments or changes after the fact. Sorry for the bluntness but I don't have time to hear and or deal with everyones comments and concerns. So either YEH or NEH and were good thanks J

Can we do both? Some people might only have 3 or4 items to bring. Some may want a whole table. I am only a buyer this time so all I want is a lot of frags!

can we share tables with other? I don't have enough to take out a full table..

When I was a member if INDMAS- we never charged for table space, so that is new to me...... how much are you thinking of?

This would be possible if we had more people to organize, having either the auction or the swap as a single will be pretty difficult for those involved. The bod is several members short due to people stepping down this year and we just don't have the means to pull both off.

Rockford charged 15 a table to sell, in this 15 dollars was the 5 dollar cover. If you werent selling you payed 5 dollars at the door.

Seems like the swap would be easier for the BOD, so thats my vote. Trying to make 20% cuts has to be a nightmare. However, the swap brings up the problem of a person only having a few frags to sell, like Matt mentioned. It wouldn't be worth a $15 table. I think there should be some sort of a rule set for sharing tables.

i'm sure we could sell half tables

I have never been to a frag auction but that sounds like more work than just having a swap. I think the swap would be more familar to most and better received. I vote swap.

Also, I was at the Rockford meet and I believe there was a entrance fee, which also got you a few tickets for something??(don't remember what exactly.) I didn't think an entrance fee is unreasonable since it does cost a lot just to rent the space, advertising, etc.

Let me know what I can do to help make this a successful event! I don't have any experience with a swap but I'll help in any way I can.

the swap sounds like a very good idea. i went to the auction in waterloo this last spring and the whole format was kind of intimidating for a newcomer. i have a go for it attitude so i'm not really complaining for myself, but i can see how some new people would be turned off by the competitive feel of an auction.
one other thing that would be great from an outsiders perspective is this; i've only met a few of you guys in person, but we've all conversed in RC, it really helps being able to know somebody's RC name when you meet them in person, so in a perfect world we could print up name badges with our RC name, avatar, and real name on them, but in the real world we could just have them there at the swap to write the info on.

I like the swap idea.

Auctions of any decent size end up taking too long. If the SELLERS actually want an swap thats great. The whole point of auctions is to drive up prices.

The only down side of a swap is the everyones mad dash at the beginning to snatch up the choice stuff.

I would be open to the idea of a kinda of "Best of Show" small auction. Most of us have a farely good idea of what the high ticket items are going to be.

That's not a bad idea. A short auction could add some excitement but could also add work. But it sounds like we have many people that are willing to help.
