The OP is about a frag swap and frankly no, frags aren't swapped. Frags are predominantly donated for a raffle to the benefit of the club. You don't get to pick what you want, you buy a chance and hope. The meeting is structured and a get together is sporadic conversation. I can assure you that you won't see all I have to offer at the meetings!

I believe he was referring directly to Fetta's comment on just getting together not having frags and learning.
We do have roundtable's at the club but people tended not to attend the meetings if we didnt have a speaker/topic
Either way I have not heard from anyone related to a club structured swap after my last post

That's correct AHD.
I deleted a long rambling post that would have inevitably caused friction. Will call it a pre coffee lack of judgement. Along the lines of dogs comment there used to be alot of buying selling a trading at meetings. That did kind of fizzle since except for a few new members we all pretty much have the same stuff.
AHD is correct about the round table free discussion meetings and alot of people complained and wanted better speakers and meeting topics. The club answered and has done an amazing job and now people want "get togethers" with no topic?
The club does have its yearly picnic every summer in July that is food and drink and just a family reef geek get together. Depending on location and logistics of it maybe someone would want to step up an make that a small inter club trading day?

On that point of the picnic, we have opened that up the past three years that if someone wanted to make it a mini swap also we would be more than happy to accommodate with tables, water etc. I know someone tried two years ago and I think two people of 40 showed up with anything at all, but the other two only a few car trunk trading went on. We attempted again last year and got zero interest

Well Big Dog, then I think you should set up a frag swap so we can see everything that you have. From experience, there is not many people in the hobby around here that are willingto even buy one or two frags that I have posted and I am not trying to be a business. So to spend a day setting everything up probably would not be worth the time.

Oh and nice. Any time you want to step down off your high horse and educate us all feel free. Maybe there's a spot open you can be a key note speaker somewhere? Is your book available on amazon yet???

I have been extremely supportive of the club. I've helped a few members. I offered a location at no cost, that is all. Criticism from someone that doesn't know me or my involvement in the hobby doesn't soak. I will gladly exit the thread ........

man oh man i didn't mean to start anything here. I'm very new to the hobby along with pmas, just joined sat. So towards the meetings i'm not up to date on what really goes on.
don't get me wrong had a great time saturday, and all. but the picnic thing sounds like exactly what i was talking about just hanging out and "reef geeking" it. I'm not here to fight about nothing just learn and have fun. not here to make money, usually just spending. so if i pi**ed anyone off that was not my intentions at all......

No need to have any negativity here its just a simple discussion on someones valid request.
Personally I have always missed having a swap in the area, and as a store owner I also think we are missing out but so far the market (local reefers) have not been able to come together to date.

This is something that comes up every year. It is what it is. I personally get frustrated as I have been around the club for a few years and they are doing a fantastic job. The meetings and topics and raffles have increased ten fold over the last few years and it's disheartening when people make it out that the clubs not doing what they should or not putting any effort behind things. The huge wealth of knowledge and contacts the club has gathered is an amazing resource.
