When you say, "really high," how high are you talking? Our refractometer got out of calibration and now we're trying to bring up our salinity at the same time controlling the alkalinity. We are sitting at the high 9's low 10's.

Oh man, that sucks. Here is a link that has Randy Holmes-Farley addressing how to lower the alkalinity. Short of purchasing a very low alkalinity salt mix like the one from Tropic Marin, you could try this. Once you have the batch where you think you need it, you could slowly start doing water changes.

I've had dosing pump shut off over a week now, I just hit in the 8s yesterday. I've been chatting With Randy about using muratic acid to lower the Alk in my salt mix as well. Works really well!

That's great news! I have 4 large air stone disks on order to try the muriatic acid trick myself. My biggest concern has been the re-stabilization of pH and blowing off the residual CO2 after applying the muriatic acid.
