frag swap

I wouldnt even mind if we did just some sort of club bbq and if it led into a frag swap/exchange.

I did ask our former VP if we could set up a formal club bbq but got no response :-(

I know bar does there meetings on saturdays, what if we did a sunday bbq/swap in the early afternoon, incase any of our members have some sort of faith services on sunday morning.

Can't speak for others, but I would certainly be willing to help out as well. I'd also be in favor of cancelling a speaker in favor of supporting a swap. That's an incredible amount of money for speakers. Again, I'm willing to invest time and energy if it means less drama and more reefing!

Great attitude Karl, thanks for taking the inniative:thumbsup:

rich-rus: that sounds off topic to this thread, dont remember reading about anyone asking Marc for anything (though will miss him if he aint there...)sounds like something behind the scenes? If so, can we keep it there?Would be great to make something positive out of the challenges this club has faced as of late.

Just thought I would put back out there that Brian at Coral Reef Shop said that he would be willing to put on a frag swap in his store. It would be free and indoors. Not sure about the bbq part though . . .

Either way, I am willing to help bring this together.

Off topic.....
It was when he was still VP, was when I asked. I did not mention a time frame. I know what "Former" means.

Back on topic.....

Thats great for CRS to offer that, But what about normal customer's. I doubt he is going to want to shut the store down for us. Did he mention how he would do it?

Sunday the 10th I will be away playing golf all day. I hope we get a little more positive feedback and direction on this.

Ill see ya'll on monday.....

It's very generous for CRS to offer their facility. However, I would be very concerned about parking. Nice thing about Pam's place was that there was a park right next door with lots of parking.

There are all kinds of shops around CRS, you may have to cross the street but there should be plenty of parking.

Why would you ask the former (hence the word "former") VP to do a formal club event?

not to be rude by why do you seem so against this? I agree it it a HUGE ordeal to take on but if members want to do it then I say go for it. Just make sure to announce the CLUB has no affiliation with the swap! With the latest chain of events and the comments that seem to be flying around a swap may be the best thing for the club right now IMO

If I may make a suggestion. A lot of the swaps have had quite a draw, and I'm not sure if everyone would fit into a club house or a club members house (Anthony you are awsome for offering). I would suggest just having it at a local park like William Land park, Charmichle park, or Roseville park....plenty of room for everyone and plenty of space for BBQ's and frag tables....and best of all no charge to use...Just have everyone bring thier own lawn chair or blanket to sit on... The only thing is that is a months time you have no idea what the weather will be like..
Uffortunitly I don't think I'll be able to attend...since I'm now working Sat/Sun's...

well thats why people dont do it at parks, because of the weather is a huge issue, too hot or too cold.

One of the best idea's so far has been to see about a community center. Some may be free to non profit groups, but since the BOD doesnt want to put the MARS name behind it, we cant go with a non profit status. It may be cheaper than karls club house, so it may be easier to fund or do thru some sort of donations.

I really really really think we need to get this going and get some fun and positive back into the group.

reminder of better days :(

not sure if the video will work for everyone but give it a try...just from reading around it's time to rebuild the club in an open fashion. Unfortunatelly this will take time and effort. Ok time to go back in to the shadows and try to catch up a little more...maybe if my employees return from their strike I'll have more fre time....

Forgot how much I liked that video :) That was a cool day.

I agree, cool day. much happier.
Hey Justin can you e-mail me with some details? I also talked with our buddy :) and got some insight but I'm still slightly confused since some threads are gonne , i need input!!!

Better late than never...why stress about the past, and move on shall we?
unfortunatelly (or fortunatelly) I missed a large part of the "Incident" or "MARSgate" and additionally missed my chance to be part of another thread lockage incident :)

"Without much thought I sent this to another member and since it sounded (kinda) good I thought I'd share it with you all:
how about a group of members working together and sharing the responsibility for the upper office, and a few other members assisting as Public Relations, treasurers, ect. all kept in check by each other and keeping an open line of communication with regular members... by having open board meetings where member sit and observe (this can also serve as experience for future leaders) also including copies of meeting minutes that also include budget line item print outs so we are all aware of whats going on , and there are no questions...

"Free at last, Free at last, Thank dog oh mighty, we are free at last!"
Ok work is getting to me...

This will also decrease the amount of power and or responsibilty (stress) that the president usually deals with and allows an open line of comunication with members...Trust through open doors..
whatthe heck, I'll copy and paste this to the thread, LOL..."
