Frag tank lighting help

Hi All,

I'm just in the process of plumbing in a frag/grow out to my main system and am after your opinions on lighting.

The frag tank is 24" x 16" x 12" (LxDxH) and as the main system is Halide & T5 I'm thinking T5's would be best (had a look into LED but don't understand the technology and thus got confused :hammer:). Would 2 x 24w be sufficient, will 4 x 24w be too much for 11"/12" of water or should I invest more time in learning about modern tech?

Cost is probably the biggest consideration.

Thanks in advance
Matt

i just set mine up and went 8x54w on a shallow frag tank, the lights are high though, 2' over the frag tank. t5 ati, i tried to get good reviews on the non premier brands but couldnt find them. most of the amazing tanks have t5 ati or geismen, spelling. so i would go t5 and 4x. JMO

Can I see a picture of your 24 x 16 x12 frag tank? And is it drilled? I want to add one to my system and these are around the dimensions I want. Where did you get it from? Also t5 is definetly tried and true but I am going with led on mine as I don't have sufficient height above where I need it to go to raise a t5 fixture. Led will just let me turn the intensity down as needed.

Ideally, light it with the same lights on your display. Then, you can move stuff in/out (after dipping) with ease. If not, I think that your plan is just fine with 4x24w.
