I've eaten more than my fair share of shark fin soup as a kid. It was pretty much a standard at most Chinese banquets (weddings and bday celebrations). Haven't been to a traditional banquet in a while, so I'm not sure if its still being served regularly. Good stuff (at the risk of offending all the shark lovers out there), but I probably won't have it anymore now that I have a better sense of the cruelty involved (not to mention the cost).

BTW... talk about a thread straying off course!

lol... meeeeeee... off course?

Ken you never invited me to one of your BBQ's.. i have seen you cook up some mean chinese food... :beachbum:

speaking of chinese.. where is a good place around downtown?

I find it difficult to make Chinese food on a BBQ... the rice keeps falling through the grill!! :D

If you're downtown LA, you might as well just hit up Chinatown for some Chinese food.

Dude, you have the choice places to go in either Chinatown or Monterey Park/Alhambra. There are lots of great places but it all depends on what you want to eat. Dim sum is the best b/c you get to try lots of different varieties at one sitting. It's kinda like Spanish tapas, small dishes. Yum........tapas. That reminds me, I need to hit the local tapas bar and have some sangria

Sorry Eric, it's all Gabe's fault

Its a funny thing, Eric moves out of his place in Upland and Route 66 choppers (aka Lucky 7 Choppers) moves in....I've spent a lot of time in that place....looks like I'll be spending more time there.

Ya see, it still worked out for you :D

Speaking of Dim sum, know of any good dim sum places, my favorite place Sam Woo in San Gabriel closed down. :(
