fragging anemones

Which type of anemone are you interested in? BTAs are very easy to cut in half. You get very high survival rates if you start out with a healthy anemone in a healthy environment and give it at least a week or two to recover in that tank. Really nothing more to it than chopping them in half with a razor.

i haven't intentionally done it, at least. an accidental rock slide put a pinch on a rose-tip from one edge of the mouth down to the foot. it didn't totally sever the nem, but it did split the flesh open - it split the next day.

i'd guess you've already came across these, but i figured these might be handy for anybody else left curious by the thread's title.

I seen Calfo do it a few weeks ago. If I'm not mistaken you need to keep the anemones in a seperate tank until they heal.

oh i got the guts to do it but im only worried about killing my other fish, i need to read up more about that but i will keep you informed

wrap a rubber band around it sort of tight. It will spit itself. no stress no mess. done it many times.

What about a LTA do they ever split on their own? (I got one that is huuuuuge)

I have had an BTA for only about 2.5 months. I feed him about every 2 or 3 days. If you have patience it will split very fast. I just had my first split last night and they are both bubbled up and happy. I think you will have much safer success by just raising a healthy anemone and letting it split on its own. Also, you won't have to worry about killing any of your other fish

They can, but it is rare.

Hi! I have 2 Long Tentacles Anemones splitted from a friends mother LTA !

They have tentacles very similar to Bubble Anemones but they have the DOTS on theyre boddy to state its LTA

Its rare but they split!

I have one of them that is huge thats almost splitting !

The rubber thing is very good idea, but the rubber needs do pressionate theyre "mouth" correct ?? So i needed to take the anemone out of the tank rip it out of the ROCK and put the rubber!

That would be hard work!

I was thinking on the cutting them in Half but im not sure since they already splitted once by it self, ill just wait for the natural splitting

THo i have 3 Bubble tips that pretty soon ill test this cutting in half
