Date: Saturday November 9th
Location: All Pet's Club Wallingford
Session 1 - 1:45pm
Session 2 - 3:45pm
I would like to invite club members together to discuss/learn how to safely frag zoanthids / palythoas / leathers as well as educate members on how to properly frag corals with hard skeletons using a coral fragging saw. We will also briefly discuss mounting onto plugs, dipping corals, acclimating and any other information beneficial to the topics at hand.
Although this will be educational, we will try to keep this a casual discussion and encourage everyone to participate so everyone can learn from one another.
We would like to encourage members to bring in larger pieces from home that they would like to have fragged (and possibly wouldn’t mind trading amongst the club). All Pet’s Club has approved the idea (and don’t mind if we bring pieces from home), as long as we purchase a few coral colonies from them for the demonstrations.
The party room is smaller so I’d like to have this in 2 sessions. I think it makes for a more intimate gathering AND allows more people to come because of the 2 different start times.
I’d like those attending the first session to arrive at 1:45pm, with the actual demonstration/presentation starting at 2pm.
I’d like those attending the second session to arrive around 3:45, with the 2nd demo/presentation starting at 4pm.
We will purchase a few larger pieces for each session and frag them. They will be handed out in a lottery/ticket style, so it’s fair for all and non-biased. Members will be encouraged to bring in a few small frags from home as well to swap/trade/sell. After the discussion and fragging demonstration, members will have time to then “swap” the day’s new frags as well as a few frags from home.
CTARS is contributing towards the coral, and All Pet's Club is giving us a better discount on the coral purchases for the demo. In order to make sure everyone goes home with a few quality pieces, we are asking everyone that would like to participate to contribute $10. The price for non-members is $30.
Please send your payment via paypal to membership.ctars@gmail.com
Please RSVP with the session time that is better for you in this post.
Due to the size of the room, we have to keep it to 10-15 people per session
We will not officially have food, but if people would like to bring snacks/drinks, please coordinate within this thread so everyone knows who is bringing what.
Thanks and see you there.
