Fragging Haddoni

I think it would be amazing if more anemones could be aquacultered and not be plucked from their natural environments. That would be so fantastic. I look forward to seeing evidence in the future.

As for aday2remmbr, I think everyone needs to chill on this guy/girl. I work in behavioral health and have counseled many transition age males (this seems to be the demographic that do this behavior) that are pathological liars. They do it for validation and for lack of better terms "to be cool". They have often come from homes of neglect or abuse. To the mods I would suggest that you suspend him for periods of time for trolling threads or causing distress with other productive forum members. A few of these suspensions and you will notice the "story telling" decrease. Trust me. No need to trash him, he's probably just a young man still working out who he is and in the process isolating himself further.

I'm assuming you are being sarcastic...

:lmao:

DOH! I'm getting Milwaukie's Best, aren't I...? Please, PLESAE no Natty Light!

This, and the prior post, are the coolest things I have seen on this forum in a long time :) Thank you so much for sharing!

Where are you keeping that huge temperate water aquarium?

Wow it looks like I stirred up a hornets nest

See? I told you :)

Personally, I would refer to the awesome photos from ousnakebyte to see how "relatively" simple it is to raise juvenile anemones. It has been done, it is well documented (with some species), and it is how reproduction of these species occurs in the wild.

As you can see from the photos, one anemone spawn can produce quite a number of offspring. Then you just have to work on improving your survival rates...

BonsaiNut: I skimmed tho the referances you just posted and they are really good. I'm certainly going to read through them in detial later tonight.

Thanks for posting them

My neighbors tank has nems that drop babies all the time. They are red nems with long-ish tentacles. No idea what kind. Sorry I'm new to this.

I'll try and grab a pic or two. His other species doesn't reproduce it just splits.

The red ones that drop babies are likely Wartah anemones. They have a potent sting, don't host clowns and can become a problem because they reproduce quite quickly in the proper conditions I am told.

The ones that are splitting are likely BTAs.

I'm late discovering this thread. Ousankebyte, that is very inspiring work you did with the coldwater anems. BonsaiNut, I read those papers and they are extremely informative. The made E. quadricolor look so simple that I'm surprised nobody has brought sexually reproduced red bubble tips to market. There is certainly a strong market for them.

As for the comments by aday2remembr (and the comments about him), let us try not to be so quick to judge. I'm 50 now, but still remember being a very insecure and uncomfortable teenager who had a need to please people even though my family background was stable.

We should expose lies and exaggerations, but in as friendly a way as possible. My own first instinct is to hit a liar over the head but usually the better part of me remembers my own uncomfortable teenage years.
