Fragging my Pink Boobies Chalice??

How do I frag my chalice?

The original frag was tiny on a rock that was cut into almost how a solitaire diamond is cut. I put it on my frag rack and it seemed to work great at holding it up. Today I noticed that the chalice has started to grow around the edges now too, so it is kind of growing under the edge. I figure if I could somehow cut it in half and put it on a small rock or bigger disk both halves could grow out well.

So how do I frag it? grab the hammer and chisel? I don't have a band saw. Or can I just find a rock to kind of put it on permanently and it'll figure itself out?

Hard to see, but it has grown around the rock so it is touching the frag rack on all sides, and the 'point' of the diamond shape is stuck in the frag rack.
If I were to put the frag on a flat surface I wouldn't be able to put it down without flesh being on the bottom.

I don't have a dremel. But if I can borrow one just use what kind of wheel? and just cut right through it?

How many eyes does it have. If you frag you must ensure each piece has an eye. The survival rate of the frags will be better, I have never had a chalice survive without the eye. Also way do you want to frag that piece, I would let it grow out more then decide if I want to frag it. I am just one that prefers not to cut corals, that's why I have a 18" wide bubble gum chalice.

Diamond tip wheel on a dremel. You should invest in one just to have. They're very handy in the hobby. I agree with the above post about having an eye in each frag and also you should let it get bigger before fragging. I love good size chalices :)

My main concern is the back part, in the shade in the picture, has flesh, but no color, and hardly growing.
I'd just as soon find a place in my rock and glue it if it won't kill the coral having part of it covered up kind of.

I lost my bubble gum, had a 2" frag, looked great one night, next day after work it's face down in the sand, 2 days later it's gone. Very sad.

Ok, it possible try to move it so that area may he more light. But if you have to frag it, I use a dremmal and razor blade. I make a small scratch in the Skelton part of the chalice then use a razor blade to finish it off and make a clean cut through the flesh. It is important though for an eye to be part of the frag or it won't survive.
