how do you glue or epoxy a frag to a rock in your tank with it still wet? does tanking a frag out of water to let glue settle damage it? this is all a little unclear to me

some corals cane come right out of the water to be fragged mushrooms and such, other its best to keep them in the tank submerged and then just bring the rock the frag is attached to out of the water, but not the coral it self. then dry with a paper towel and attach. i find super glue works on wet surfaces, its one of the most common frag glues.

I also take mine out of the water to frag. Be sure and use super glue gel. It is much easier to use.

CA glue is perfectly reef safe and sets up quickly under salt water.
1. Place a little CA glue on your finger(wear gloves) and hold it under water. A white film will cover the glue after a few seconds.
2. Smear the glue on the rock where you want to mount the coral.
3. Hold the base of the coral out of the water and place a little glue on it.
4. Place the base of the coral where you smeared the glue in step 2. Move the coral in a circular motion. You will see the two patches of glue starting to stick together. Once that happens hold it for about 20 seconds to let the glue set up.
The first few times you glue it can be difficult but after a few hundred it is a piece of cake...
I buy 20gm tubes of gel ($8) or 8 oz bottles of Maxi-cure thick CA glue ($30) at the local hobby stores. I usually do enough gluing to use an entire tube of glue at once so there really is not any waste...

What kind of coral are you trying to glue?
IME, many softies, mushrooms, ricordia, and the like do not attach permanently with superglue - you will need an alternate attachment for those.
