Frags anyone?

Check the thread I just posted about the location of the meeting. I think if everyone is ok with it, we might have it at Stefano's on the strip (down right by UT).

As far as what will work with VHOs...I have no idea. hah hah. If you want more zoas, I can get you the pink and red ones without a problem. If you want to try some stoney stuff...well heck I am not sure about sps with VHOs. I am actually fairly unknowledgable about a lot of reef stuff (esp. lighting, see my other thread). I can always get you one of these sps frags to try out. Some of those are easier to grow than others.
 
The thicker branched blue tip will work under VHO's. The guy I got my blue tip garf acros from grew his form a small frag and over 3 years it was ~2' in diamter and about 16" tall (growing out of the water) under VHO's and PC's in a 150. garf grows a lot of their corals under VHO's. You won't get as much growth, but many will do okay. Some may lose color, if they require tons of light to hold the color, but a good many will do okay. If you plan a lighting upgrade in the future, even better. Tricolors usually need a ton, so they might not be a good choice.
 
Cool thanks for the info. It will be a while before I get into MH's but if the blue tip acro will work I'll try it. If you got any left???? What about the green slimer? What is that?? I don't remember seeing it in your tank. If it would work I'll try it also, if you have any left. I think I will have some of all of your zoas after I get the dragon eyes. Please let me know if the blue acro is available and about the green slimer

Yeah Patrick. Both are available. He's talking about a different blue tip than is pictured in this thread but I have that one available too (Gary knew that, which is why he mentioned it I believe).
 
Well if you have the blue acro Gary was talking about count me in for a frag of it please. And what is the green slimer? Is it another SPS?
 
I know what you mean about checking RC every time you break...I do it a lot, too (especially when writing boring english papers).
 
Mel I completely forgot about the red ring green stripe zoas. Do you have any frags of those left?
I guess my list is Dragon eyes, Red ring green stripe and the blue acro gary talked about. Sorry for all the confusion. Let me know if you still have all of these.

I have a frag of the blue tip that I mentioned under PC's (has been there since the frag swap) and it is actually growing. Coloration is not the best, but that shows that it will grow under lesser lighting. Of course, it is 130W over a 10 gallon, but VHO's always give off better light/color, IMO. I think this acro is A. microphthalma, but not positive, as it is somewhat similar to the yongei and a microphthalma (of course it is all almost guess work...).

I know the slimer would do better under more intense light, but it would probably do okay under the VHO's, too. The slimer is Acropora yongei. They grow near the upper portions of reefs and slime when the tide moves out to protect themselves from sunburn. under VHO's, it would likely look toxic green;). If you get one of them, I'd put it high up just to be safe.
 
That's cool gary. I am glad it's growing. You know I have this freaking awesome purple montipora that just doesn't look nearly as purple in my tank as it did when I saw it in the display. But it grows like you wouldn't believe. That's what makes me happy...to see them grow. Other people in the club have had it retain it's color and just not do well...or even die. But man this one is doing great!

Ok so Zack...yeah some of the stuff I do is pretty boring. So that's why I have to have movies playing or tv on or RC in the background...just something else going on. For some reason it helps me focus.

Someone earlier asked about my lecture. I don't give my lecture til tomorrow morning (teach on Tuesdays and Thursdays) but I want to have the slides posted and available for download two days prior to class. That's why I was pushing last night to finish them.

Patrick the slimer is an sps coral that grows amazingly well in my tank in a fairly low light area (well low light considering I have 2 400W MH bulbs). It's in the middle of the tank (both left to right and top to bottom) so it's probably in one of the lowest light spots. That's why I thought of that one. Here's a picture and you can just decide if you want to try it or not. That's totally up to you!

Also, I don't have any more frags of dragon eyes but I have those others listed above if anyone is interested. If you want dragon eyes you might want to check with Art because he might have some (though I am not sure one way or the other).

Angela, I can easily get you the slimer but I can't get any more pink zoas. Would you like some red and pink ones or some red ring green skirt ones? If not, no big deal! But if you do, just let me know!
 
I'll give up my pinks to Angela. My tank isn't in the best of shape right now and I think it would be safer to wait to add anything new.
 
Hey, Sorry for the delay! I have this feeling to try and do everything at once and no time to do it! Nesting maybe! :) Surfing hasn't been top priority. I am OK with the slimmer and pinks if I end up with them. Or I can wait my turn if someone wants the zoas worse. Just lmk how much to send when the time comes!! Great house and nice place for a tank!
 
Ok I'll take the following
pink zoas
galaxia
brown plating montipora
grey-blue palythoa polyps
and the Bali green slimer only if you still have some after taking care of anyone else.
 
I should have all of those except the pinks, but what meant about the red and pink zoas was that I have a zooanthid colony that is a red zoa with pink center. Maybe that's what you meant?

Let me know which you meant and I will see if I can work that out too.

As far as the slimer goes...I should have plenty of those. When would you like to pick these up? Wednesday with a lot of the people or saturday at stefano's? Or even some other time. LMK!
