Which ones do you think would be good for a beginner SPS keeper like me? I have a encrusting monti, green slimer and some orange one too  (same as the large one dave had in his SPS tank). I would be interested in a few frags, thanks guys.

I would say both of the tenius, i have a tabling sps that would be good for you also. Couple others not pictured. Let me know when you would like to come by.

Sometime tomarrow after 6 would work for me, get off of work then and I get paid tomarrow. Or if that doesn't work I'm free all weekend until I leave my house at 6ish, then I'm out for the night.

Hi Dennis and Andrea,

I'm curious if you think any of your SPS frags would survive without MH lighting? I have 390W of power compact over a 75 gallon reef and while LPS and dersa clams do very well, I have not tried keeping any SPS since I have heard mixed reviews about their lighting needs. However, I would really love to give them a shot, since they are so beautiful. If you have anything that you think would thrive under this light please let me know, also where exactly are you located?

Thanks for your help!

Nilla

To be honest, that is really not enough light to keep these guys alive and well. Well, they may stay alive but not do very well.

Unfortunately, we wouldn't have anything that would thrive under your lighting. If you ever decide to go with MH's let us know. We are located in Island Lake.

Thanks,
Andrea

Hi again,

I completely agree, I would never want to keep anything that was merely surviving. One of these days (or more likely years, hehe) I'm going to upgrade so I guess I'll just keep looking forward to that!

Thanks again for your help and advice!

Nilla

I'll chime in and say that I keep many sps successfully under VHO lighting. Bulbs close to water, corals near the top and they grow well and color up well. (I eventually will move to MH lighting). Before having VHO, I had PC lighting and would only say that I could keep them alive.

Interestingly enough though, my Acros and higher light sps do much better under VHO than my montis!

I dont mind shipping but I don't know how much it will be. I am assuming at least 30-40 dollars. If you want to pay for the shipping, I have no problem with that.
