How did you guys do it, I searched the help section of CS3 and followed the instruction of framing a finished pic, and after press the play button in action menu I got an outline of the pic. That is as far as I could get.
No sigature can be found in the help section, so I need your help for step by step on making both.

I just use the "Text tool" to write the sig and then adjust the opacity of the text layer.

i.e.

I'll help a little with that. In elements, this is called a drop shadow. I find it under artwork and effects, then click special effects, then photo effects under frames. You can also add others to the same one. This has an added beveled edge frame.

My shadow drops to the right, Dougs to the left, don't know if you can change that though.

:) I'm sure in elements you can, its been so long since I've used elements (and it was an older version) that I couldn't describe the steps. In PS though you go to blending options>Drop shadow and you have a bunch of different options. Which direction the "light source" comes from, blending modes, size, spread, opacity, etc.

As for the original question, I like to sort through pictures on a few different sites and see how people frame their pictures. If I see something I like I try to replicate it on my own, considerably easier if you know how to use photoshop to a good extent. There are sites with frame packages that you can download though.

As for the watermark, I have mine setup as a stamp. :) Simply open a blank PS document, type/design what you want your watermark to be, go over to your layers palette - hold the crl button and click on the layer preview (the name escapes me at the moment what its really called, the square box inside your layer palette that is a thumbnail for each layer) for your text layer. [You may need to rasterize the text layer first, been a while since I did it!] Then just go to edit>define brush.

:) Then your watermark will show up in your brushes menu, so you won't have to type "African Grey Copyrighted" every time. All you'll have to do is select the brush and click on the picture where you want your watermark to be.

It doesn't have to be difficult.

Click the "T" in the tool bar. Type your text. Save your file. Done. :)

beerguy,
Is that photo taken from Yosemite, did you used neutral denisty filter when the pic was taken, or brakecting with different EV's then merge them in PS, the shadow is are very well exposed and detailed, at the same time the bright lit area (sky and trees are not blown).

Yes. That's the final drop of Yosemite Creek before it hits the top of the upper falls.

I used a two stop soft edge graduated filter. It's a single frame, not a blend.

I have stumbled around in cs3 and ps 7 a bit, but is there a way to make the same frame for every photo? Or are they all built seperately? know what i mean?? Like a "button" that i can press or something that i can load that is the template of the frame and sig???..

Yes. Once you come up with a formula that you like you can record the steps as an action. Then the next time you want to make that frame you just click the action and press play.

Or, you can google "photoshop framing action" and download someone else's.

;)

I have been search and found this Mikes framining scripts But haven't used it myself.

I have been a user of Mike's since the beta days in both Windows and now Mac.

You can't put a price on this script, it is FANTASTIC!  :D

Not sure if anyone is still looking for help on this, but there are a lot of cool Plug-Ins/Actions on this page. For framing, i like the "Bud's Frames"
