After reading Dave's screw thread I have to share my mishap with everyone.
Friday my tank decided to have problems also. The red macro algae went asexual and actually grew inside the drain tubing of the refugium. Good thing my son heard a strange noise and noticed the "little tank" was about to overflow. You would not believe the amount of the macro algae I pulled out of the drain tubing.
I'm now cleaning all my clear tubing so I can see what is going on inside. I should have realized something was wrong when the cheato stopped growing as fast. Funny thing is I thought this macro algae wasn't doing any growing, the little piece in the separate fuge compartment wasn't getting that big.
