free BTA/zoanthid trade/pictures

Swanwillow

goby girl
After I had made a fun purchase of some occelaris clowns, I know my BTA is just too small and bleached to handle a pair of clowns if they decided to have a party in it, so does anyone have a tank that they wouldn't mind having a bleached BTA in? Its eating and growing, but it doesn't have all of its zoozanthellae (sp?) back yet...

And I still have my zoanthids for trade. PICS PICS PICS I even cleaned the tank before I took pictures this time

with flash- green zoanthids and free anem (poor baby, its kinda bad looking)

heres a true-to-life color picture of the nem. THIS is what it really looks like color wise.

AND, a random picture of my firefish pair and the bubble coral in its glory-the firefish seem to be full grown

AND, a test for all of ya that made it this far...

HOW MANY FISH ARE IN THIS PICTURE?

oh, and heres the names of the corals... at least, in the last picture
the bubble coral in lower left,
orange sponge on the right under the arch,
the yellow polyps which happen to be full of algae (the hermits and snails won't touch it) is a few inches to the left of the sponge
directly above that is the warty mushroom whatever it is. the angle is such that you can't see the ricordea's up on top of that large rock that makes the arch though.

and, as a hint, there are 3 different species of fish in the picture.

ahh, first person and he figured it out :P

no, its the one I just got from Grand Rapids ;) the one I was thinking of splitting, but its so big and nice...

Then you need to keep that coral Swan, it sounds like it's a keeper.

no i am here, just not much positive to talk about right now. broke another sump and now am having one made hopefully or at least i am trying to.

I want a nice, bigger sump made. Thinking 30 long or maybe a 40... mines not deep/big enough, I don't have anywhere to put a refugium. BUT, I don't need to drill mine...

Hey Val, did you ever post pics?? I have kinda avoided it because I am battling (and winning) the fight against hair algae. I am taking it on "the natural way". Anyway, I will try to post pictures myself on a new thread.

I haven't had time yet...I have started a bit of hair algae myself...just a few little spots...how are you battling it "the natural way"? You gonna be around this weekend? We are coming through at some point...

Snails and crabs don't get to the heart of the problem, HA (Hair Algae). They are a Band Aid. The heart of the problem are your water parameters. I haven't found one person that would disagree with that. Snails and crabs will eat the HA and then die off from lack of food. Guess what you will have again from the die off?? How one battles it is no big secret, it is a matter of time and dedication. You will not find an off-the-shelf quick cure.

I've even gone so far as to say that there is HA in the wild ocean and that one can expect some of it in their own enclosed system. But I'd rather be dealing with HA than with one of those macro's that don't have a natural predator. On that note, be careful of what rock you buy....

Yes, we will be around this weekend. Please call to let us know what time you will be there.

Would the BTA handle one clown? Not sure if mine would host in it but I sure would like to try sometime. Why is it bleached out do you think?

I'd trade something for some zoo's (or maybe just buy them if I don't have anything you want).

Have you seen the mushroom rock at FF? It's pretty cool. I think they said they were bullseye but, that's not what they looked like to me. Purplish with blue pimples or was it the other way around. They look somewhat like you have I think.

The clown that I have will not host in the BTA that I have, we just feed it manually, and it is doing great.

oops, sorry, Garret took it already. It had that maroon clown in it in at the pet store, but it was dieing...

and yeah, I'll trade for zoanthids!!!!

LOL, I don't think he wants the zoanthids. it was enough that I had to split a rock and he had to take it with him

I wonder if he's listening to us? if so, HOW is it doing garret?
