If you look at the link you posted at Live Aquaria. It says they are from the Indo-Pacific.

I guess they could have been introduced here.

I've never seen a bumble bee shrimp in the keys, are you sure its not an anenome shrimp? They're kind of similar.

Getting back to people collecting Blue Legs down in the keys.

DO NOT GET CAUGHT. Better yet, don't do it.

Blue Legs are on the restricted species list and you will be paying a very hefty fine if you are caught with them.

I'm sorry coralfarmer and I might be mistaken as I by no means am a proffesional at this but in this link I have provided Blue-Leg hermits are on the allow list. Check it out:

Please read it and let me know if I or this website are mistaken.

Thanks

They don't update their website too often. They also don't update their paperwork either. If you look at an application for a commercial license there is a list of restricted species on it yet you won't see blue legs on that either.

However, from the same website you can find the following:

MARINE LIFE, CH 46-42, F.A.C. (Effective June 1, 1999)

· Designates porkfish and blue-legged or tri-color hermit crab as “restricted species”

http://myfwc.com/marine/history/MARINELIFE.htm

I have personally written FWC and asked them about blue legs and I was reassured that they are in fact on the restricted species list. I also know someone (online friend) that was busted with them.
