ok, here is the deal. I am sure I will become a major $%^& here when some people read this but please read below on. It has been bothering me enough to not sleep last night. Yes, it bothers me this much! If I get a bad rep here so be it. I know in my eyes I AM doing the right thing .

I am not naming members but a have gotten several-to-many PM's/emails from other refer central members about whom takes what, size tanks, length of time being reef members, have a tank setup etc etc. To those members I thank you for bringing it up to my attention; I did not think this would happen on this forum.

Now, it was NOT easy to leave my personal fish to just anyone. I know it sounds stupid but they are my family, per say, and have grown to my liking and my sons. My son (18-months old) LOVES the fish (which is priceless to me and my wife) and it is hard to give them up to just “anyone” since I have spent a lot of time, energy and well-being/emotions on them. It is nice to just sit there and watch them after a long day at work, doing parent duties … etc etc. I have seen them grow up from small to large; People who are parents know what I mean. Yes it sounds odd to some.

So I want an experienced reefer to take them. I have called a RC member (at work) who will take them and get some other stuff. It bothers me , big time, that it seems people will take anything without caring etc. I would rather leave my tank/equipment setup in my retired parents house or inlaws/family and PAY to fly up (from way down south) every 4 to 6 month to make sure all is ok. Yes, I care this much.

My fish, along with my family, have taken a “back seat” during my job interview travels; which is not good. I thought I had enough things to worry about like: selling my home, moving/packing all the items, quitting my job after 13-years (not easy for job “security“), pension plans, 401K’s, wife finding a new job, finding a new house, new job, new schools, new daycare, new doctors, getting to the airport to come home, renting a car, hotel to sleep, getting my 2 pitbulls (which I LOVE) down there, my other autos, tractor etc etc….now add this.

So I thank all the good attentions here but I want a good home to a “large tanked” person that will keep/appreciate the fish along with knowing what “is up“/experience; and keep “ALL” fish together. If people hate me for this, fine, but this action here had to take place and makes it a little easier to leave them.

Nothing for anyone to hate you over, you are going with your own gut instinct and being a responsible owner of your things. Your reasoning makes a lot of sense. Best of luck with the new job, house etc.

Fish and corals are living things and they're yours. As their owner, it is up to you to be sure that they are taken care of properly. If you want the best care for these animals, then you have the right to control who gets them. Obviously you care deeply about the fish and other critters in your tank and we all should step back and see if we are just as devoted to ours as you are to yours.

If you want you can ask me anything about fish. That is how I got most of my livestock from a reefer moving, he asked me ALOT of questions, I guess I passed because he let me take the coral fish etc

So I cant take them? I have a 175 gallon to put them it...

yes it does. I care for my animals (I use that loosely here in this term) a lot. I need/want to make sure they get a good, caring, experienced home . I do not want, or need to worry about my fish. Yes, it sounds completely stupid to some. If I get some people mad, so be it; I know that I am getting, my fish, a good home that the end user knows what is up.

To saltyfishy123, how does “my” fish leaving effect you I do not get. If you want to get ANY tank going (in general), you WILL need these orders anyways. It does not matter.

That is the most thought-out/caring post I have seen. ;)

Saltyfishy has gotten all his advice and still does from a person who has been doing this for about25 years. He is experianced and will certainly take care of anything to the best of his ability and if he does not know the answer he is 2 blocks away from an EXTREME expert. I would also like to know if you are still selling any equipment, it may have been in the post, but I was skimming....

I can understand where you are coming from, and there really is no need for you to think we are going to 'hate' you for this. These are animals that are very important to you (like your dogs- I have 3 and they are my life). You have decided to keep all your "wheeling and dealing" local. Good luck with everything (moving, new job, ect.) and let me/us know IF there is anything you will be selling.

I will and I THANK YOU for that.... we lost our beloved rottie due to cancer (with many titles) and my pits are great with my son. I would pay "through the nose" to keep them.

well this still really ****ed me off. NOt being rude, but I bet you wouldnt be happy if you worked out something like this with someone and then he cancels on you.

Pat that is understandable, we kinda put aside the comment he made on how important these fish were to him. However we were willing to take all of them, and they were going into a well-established system. So I am not entirely sure what made him change his mind but some desisions people can't explain they just happened, and if it makes you feel better I think that you are experianced and are VERY, VERY knowlageable when it comes to SW. It was Mike's decision not to let you take the fish. Don't argue here on the thread, if you HAVE to PM him.
