Free freshwater fish

I just fed the tank a few minutes ago. This guy eats two to three times more than the rest of my fish combined. This thing is a freaking pig!

Those donations might be necessary after all. :D

I just wanted to give an update on the little fishy. He is still doing fine and eating like a pig. He has made tank maintenance a nightmare though because of the amount of waste he creates. I would be willing to bet that he creates more waste than my rat terrier does!

Other than that he is an awesome fish and he gets compliments every time someone comes in my house. They are always fascinated by his size.

I'm not sure if it is possible or not but I swear he is still growing! I would still like to know how old he is.

I would have to guess that he is at least 18" long, probably longer. He's a pretty big boy with a huge appetite!!!

Glad to see he is still doing well bruce. I hear ya on the tank maintenance with him. I think he use to be in a 180 and i would drain close to half of it every two weeks. Luckily there was a sink right behind the tank and id run to siphons :D

There is a slow sinking pellet/wafer/flake type of food that WVfishguy gave me a sample of that the fish really seem to enjoy. I would like to get some of that but I can't remember what it was.

If I can't figure that one out I will probably give New Life Spectrum a shot. I generally only feed Hikari but I'm always open to try something new.

I use two hoses, one to fill and one to empty / sweep. It makes it tolerable and I can do the water change in about 15 - 20 minutes. I have to keep my eyes open when I'm doing it though, I have a few aggressive fish in there that would love to turn me into fish food. My wife swears that the Gourami is going to eat us one day. It gave her a "love bite" one day a while back. :D

Bruce, you may want to cut back on his food. Like "The Blob," this fish grows in direct proportion to how much it eats. I think 20" is max, but I may be wrong.

I use Aquadine Duraflakes, freshwater formula. You can order it from Pet Solutions. I am a dealer, so I get mine by the case from the factory in California.

I believe New Life Spectrum would be just as good. I've used Hikari for more than two decades, and its a fine food as well.

Again, thanks for giving him a good home.

BTW - I doubt he is much more than 3-4 years old. I believe you will have him for at least another 10 years - probably longer.

I ordered 15 pounds of food from ken's. According to the members at monster fish keepers it is very good food for a great price. I paid 91 including shipping. They have marine fish as well.

I am wanting to get some of the Aquadyne as well though.

On a side note, just out of knee surgery a couple of hours ago so I am going to have a week or so to spend with the fishies. Hope they don't eat me.

I need to get back into biking. I bought a nice Trek mountain bike and haven't ridden it in over a year, looks cool hanging in my garage though.

Hope they gave you some good drugs.

I tore the meniscus on the dirt bike. I've been off all the bikes for over four months. I've gained a lot of weight and I'm miserable. I'm hoping to be back to riding within a month and training within two months. I'm not sure if I'm going to racing this year or not though.

They haven't really given me any good drugs. Loritab 5mg is pretty much it.

Wow, he makes that tank look small. How big is he?

He was measured a couple of days ago at 20.5" total length.
