Free Gallon of Muratic Acid

AZBigJohn

Usually confused...
Like the title says, I just got done doing some "rock reincarnation" by bleach soaking and then muratic acid washing my old rock to remove all algae and pests.

I bought a case of muratic acid, and only needed 3 of the 4 gallons. If you need a gallon of acid, you are welcome to it.

Cross streets of 19th Ave and Bell Road. I am available most evenings. The Baking Soda is empty, and not included....

I would like it. I have some rock cleaning to do myself. I can pick it up this weekend if that's OK. JP

Replied. Any chance I can check out your build while over getting the muriatic acid. I'm getting ready for a new build myself. JP

Hey! I didn't know that you could use muratic acid? How do you use it? Do you mix with water? Do you soak the rock again after the acid? I have rock that I would like to clean up and I just soaked in water and took a toothbrush to it.

You mix the acid 10:1 in water. (1 gallon acid to 10 gallons water).

Put your rock in the acid (outside, using eye protection, chemical protective glove and a tall container, as it can foam up).

Have a box of baking soda per gallon of acid, and once most of the bubbling stops, dump it in to neutralize the acid (stand back...lots of foam).

I'm told you can use it directly, but I flushed it in clean water and let it air dry.

If you search the main board for "rock reincarnation" the first post goes into great detail.

I still have the gallon available if you want it.
