Free Pistol Shrimp

I doubt the Pistol killed your sweetlips... Probably just finishing the remains... These are a very harmless shrimp whose bark is worse than it's bite.
 
wow almost ordered one with Ade's order but changed my mind, thought it might become a problem. good choice I guess cant have any critter killers.
 
I kept hearing snapping...so I decided to look and see if the pistol was caught or something. He had a nasirrius (sp) snail in his big claw and snapping it against it trying to crack it open like a walnut. I took a plastic fork and made him drop it and moved the snail to the other side of the tank.

Also one day i heard alot of snapping and shined the flashlight under his rock, and there he had a bristle worm in his claws dicing it up I guess to put in the mysis soup.
 
Yeah it very well may be a Mantis..... If it is then all bets are off , that thing will eat you once it gets big enough...lol ...But a Pistol is and in my experience always has been very peaceful and docile..A model citizen even..
 
Now. I guess we will have to meet for you to get your frag, maybe we can meet in the middle.
