As requested by popular demand, this is a new thread for those of you out there who don't want to pay for RC membership and are tired of busy search engines... This is a free RC search and should be bookmarked so you guys don't lose it...

Hope everyone finds this usefull... I know I do from time to time...

why bookmark something thats on the home page of reefcentral?

That is the "Search Tools" link on the left side of the home page.

Well I don't mind sounding like a jerk. Why not just pony up the 20 bucks for a premium membership and help support this site? One search for some info can easily save you that 20 bucks it costs for the year. If I were running the site, it would be a read only for non paying members. Kind of like people complaining about politicians but have never even voted.

This thread was posted in order to help people that didn't know about the free seach link (mostly newbies)... A lot of people on here don't (or didn't) know that its linked on the Home Page... And while I agree that free reign of this website is worth the $20, a lot of people just getting into the hobby find it hard to fork that over, let alone $3/lb for rock... But hopefully by being able to navigate this site, and educate themselves, they will find that the investment is worthwhile if not necessary... I'm sure there is a reason the moderators/developers posted that free search link on the homepage, if for nothing else than to unburden the server load...

The RC Supporter search is a lot better than the "free search"... But the "free search" is better than nothing...

Well not that this site isn't great, but I'm not paying any money to use it, that's just plain silly.... We all buy the goods for their sponsors, that's support enough in my opinion... Considering that the site charges a min. $500/month and they have 75 sponsors, I think with their $450K/year they are getting enough support from us. :D
 
Thanks for the post. It helps me quite a bit. I was actually kind of getting upset that I couldn't even search this site without paying. I usually end up joining sites eventually, but i like to get a feel for the flow of info and the other users before i do so.

Anyone is welcome to come to my office and read the brochuers in the waiting room too. Lots of information sitting out there. But if they want to ask questions, get a treatment, or talk to me about a health problem, they better open the wallet. At 80+ cents a mile to drive a vehicle, a trip to most LFS's cost more than the membership. And you can get better info here.
 
Your right $20 bucks isn't that much, but forcing me to pay $20 to search is silly......I can see having people with low post counts who are newbies having free search, isn't that what the site is about? Information?....and passing it on to those that need it?
 
Yeah. More searches equals out to less posting of questions that have been asked a million times which equals to the site being hammered on less, etc...

But hey...it's not my site, it's theres. Still like that search though...Thanks again, OP!
