I would Not suggest putting these in an outside pond. These guys will not stay put and end up breeding in local ponds, lakes, and rivers and push the local native turtles out. They can also carry viruses and other diseases that they are immune to , the native turtles would not be immune to these viruses and could kill all local turtles..

I have overflow holes in the pond to keep a 2 1/2 - 3" rim so turtles stay put... Little guys tend to get eaten buy a pesty egrit or occational racoon but the bugger guys should be safe. (I haven't seen the pond preditor for a long time and the little turtle that's in there is still there) but I agree turtles like to roam!
 
Got ya. If they were to get eaten that would not bother me as much as if they were to escape...
