Free to good home - N. Wennerae - No. VA (Ashburn)

I'm new to salt and am setting up my first tank. Anyway, got my first shipment of TBS rock the other day carrying a N. Wennerae about 2-2.5 inches long. Wasn't sure he'd make it, but I got it out and in my quarantine tank now where it's been doing well for better than 24 hours now.

As I said, I'm just setting up my reef and I'm going to want to use that quarantine tank soon. If anybody nearby is interested in taking this specimen home, drop me a line. I'd prefer not to ship this guy since I've not shipped anything live like this before and am a bit apprehensive about it.

Origami... Just wanted to again say thanks. The mantis has been acclimating over the last couple of hours and it's very active. Thanks for offering the great little creature.

Also I think "Monty" is a very fitting name. Great job to the idealist! :thumbsup:

You're welcome, Stephen. I'm just glad that he's found a good home. I was certainly encouraged late this morning when it became evident that he'd eaten that bit of shrimp that I put in for him. It was a good sign. Anyway, best of luck with him!

By the way, it was my 7-year old daughter (Danielle) that named him Monty - Monty the Mantis. She'll be thrilled to hear that he's doing well.

Dude, if you get another one, keep it in your reef. I have mine in a 55 gal mixed reef for 3 month now. He is doing well and have not killed anything. The trick is to keep it well fed. When I see it walks about, I put a small piece of shrimp on a stick and feed him.

Great critter to watch in a reef tank. They do NOT eat corals of any kind.

Origami -- a little off-topic, but I just noticed your equipment list. I see you're using a CPR skimmer. I have used these but found the equivalent AquaC skimmers to be *vastly* superior. In particular, for your 90 gallon tank, the AquaC Remora Pro will be a huge leap forward in skimming-ness. Not only is the AquaC much, much better at skimming, but it is also significantly quieter. Something to consider.

Thanks, Dan. In my research, I actually had the AquaC Remora Pro on my list over CPR but, on initial investment, actually ordered the CPR in my haste (Doh!). I'll run it for now and will probably upgrade it at sometime down the road (probably when I come home with another, smaller tank! My wife will love that.).

Who's wife doesn't love more tanks?:lol: Anyway I have been extremely impressed with the new Aqua C lines. I have used the Remora's ,the Urchins and the EV 400. Big thumbs up! They are very easy to maintain and productive! Also air induction is great considering that all that can go wrong is your pump fails, and you replace it with one that has the equivelant GPH. Kudos.
