freezing wild zooplankton

I live near the coast in FL and have easy access to catching zooplankton. I have been freezing them in ice cube trays, and supplementing feeding my corals. I collect from areas of lower population to reduce water pollution concerns.

Anyone have a horror story of introducing unwanted pests this way? I freeze them prior to feeding to kill the off the zooplankton. I would use live, but fear introducing bad critters...anyone using live without problems?

Is this reliably safe?
