fresh water dip for possible brook.

both fish foraline dip complete...i guess i will add this to my qt processes as it seems easy enough and not to hard on fish.

I would strongly recommend this for all new fish and it should be mandatory for wild clownfish (it's a good idea for captive bred as well). Like TTM it is a preventive measure to kill off possible infections before they become a problem.
I wish fish stores would at least do one formalin dip on new fish before they go into the sales system. It is really easy and would likely prevent a lot of losses later.

The brown patches may just be skin irritations left from the infection, healing tissue or stress discoloration.

Probably not brook, i'm going throught it now. My clown got it first and within 12 hours he was gone. So I don't think you are dealing with brook.

Yes, the brown patches are stress markers. My Blenny has them when the Angel chases him:)

thx, and i agree. fins on blenny look very health and foxface never showed any signs despite being in a small unmedicated QT for nearly a month with blenny. i am glad, however, that a formalin dip has been added to my QT process.

Do Not Put In Display Tank! You will have more sick fish on your hands and contaminated the whole tank where you will have to treat everything. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. These fish should stay in QT for at least another month after treatment .

advice noted, and thx.

fw dips will relieve the symptoms but is not a cure. If you don't have formalin on hand the dips will buy him some time. I would put the fish into a new tank after each dip as to not reinfect it. If you have never done a fw dip they are relatively easy. Most important thing is to fully aerate the water. Be sure the temp and ph match the water the fish is in now. It is normal for the fish to lie on its' side in the dip but if it starts to flip out and jump around take it out.
As i'm sure you know brook is a fast killer so the sooner you can do the dip the better.
+1
