freshwater dip for mantis shrimp

there are many small 1 inch mantis shrimps in my whole pile of liverocks...can i just dump the whole pile in freshwater....never mind about the spike...coz my tank is new...

i wonder how long can mantis shrimps survive in freshwater......any idea?

The mantis will survive longer than the other life forms you want to keep.

BTW, your asking this in a forum for people who keep mantis as pets .

Since it's a new tank perhaps a predator that will resolve your problem can be a temporary resident of your tank ?

maybe he can dip the rock in freshwater and when the mantis come flying out he can catch em and give them to us?

When you put the rocks in a bucket of fresh water add a bottle of tonic water. The co2 in the tonic will create a hypoxic environment and the mantis will come out rather quickly in search of oxygen. Then, scoop him out, throw him in a bucket of well areated saltwater and send him to somebody on this board.
