I had 2 large hydnophoras with brown jelly and rapid tissue necrosis. I fragged both of them and tried to remove infected areas then I used this treatment written by Bingman. http://www.reefs.org/library/talklog/c_bingman_040697.html
it was very effective. Brown jelly went away and and all tissue necrosis stopped and has since covered all dead areas with new growth. There is no mention of fresh water dip in the treatement. If u can get chloramphenicol this is likely to save it.
