Okay, so our blue tang is a real nervous Nellie. Whenever something spooks him he has a nervous breakdown and ends up hiding for hours. A couple of weeks ago when we did a big waterchange after medicating the tank, he was hiding behind the overflow box, as he always does. However, the water was drained passed the overflow box, and he got stuck behind it. Luckily we managed to get him back in the water fairly quickly, but he was absolutely traumatized. He kept swimming over to our convict tang, trying to "snuggle" with him because he was so upset. It was so sad, because the convict kept scolding him and nipping at him for getting too close.
Anyways, Darwin follows the convict tang around like a puppy, and absolutely loves him. I'm shocked by how affectionate he is with Pixel. I've only ever seen my birds and dogs this cuddly with each other. We're thinking of maybe getting him another tang to help make him more confident and comfort him when he's scared. What species would you recommend? We're setting up our new 160g this week, and we're going to be moving all our fish, corals, and live rock into it.
I want a species that would be gentle with Darwin and would be willing to let Darwin press against when upset. Personality wise, what would you guys recommend? I'm considering a tomini tang since that species doesn't get too big.
