Friend or Foe?

i noticed this little frag not doing so well today after months of seemingly doing fine. i decided to pull it and relocate it to a new spot and in doing so felt like i was touching a zoanthid polyp hanging on the side. it ended up being this colorless slug looking thing. a reason for concern or just another hitchhiker trying to make a living?

It a harmless pineapple sponge.
about 5 minutes later i found another on the bottom of another relatively newly purchased frag. those buggers are tough considering i dip my new corals for 15 mins before introducing them.
i suppose i'll remove them as they show up but otherwise to hear that they're not destructive is settling news :)

Just leave them be.

They reproduce depending on the amount of nutrients in the system and help with biodiversity and nutrient control. Over the years you'll likely see some huge blooms and then they will die off suddenly. They come in cycles. Nothing to worry about at all. Part of a healthy system IMO.
