Frogfish Compatability

Hi I have a 39 gallon Solana tank that has been dedicated to azoo corals. I had a dream of creating a display with nps corals and sponges to bring out the color in my dream fish, frogfishes. I just purchase one last night and it is already showing some of it's colors. My question is if I could keep more than one Frogfish in the tank. Will this be ok? If not I'm still perfectly happy with one. By the way I named it Gloria lol. Does anybody have any input.
Thanks.

Sorry if you see this in the fowlr section. I moved it pasted it over her when I figured it out.

What species of frogfish did you purchase? I have never had the pleasure of owning one, but I do know that it is recommended that you keep them by themselves, as they are known to attempt to eat fish that are even larger than they are -- which is good for neither fish.

Frogfish are fascinating but I think one per tank. However, I hope you don't know any women named Gloria.

It's hit and miss. I used to keep similar sized anglers together when I sold them. Unfortunately things can go wrong as they can try to eat each other, and if they are to similar in size and do so they both can die in the process. There are people out there though have breed them and do keep them together long term. I don't suggest it unless you are prepared to risk your angler.

Ok so i got a ghost ribbon eel last friday. I know what people are going to say that it is impossible and should be left in the wild. But before you say that it is eating small cut up silversides from a shish-ka-bob spear. I was told that the eel would coexist peacefully with the angler. It is working out great. In fact the angler is coming out into full view more now that the eel is in the tank. It even has a better feeding response to the feeding shish-ka-bob stick. Its not quite there yet but its getting there. Is this similar to the way shy fish come out into the open more when they are housed with more bold fish that trigger their feeding response. Just a thought. I was thinking of adding a pair of leaf fish or maybe a rhino scorpionfish. Would that work out? Would a frogfish, ghost eel, leaf pair/rhino work out?

There was a post in CORAL about a frogfish that tried to eat a shark and they both perished. If they think they can, they will.

Bummer... :(

Yes.

But, I thought these things get 3-4 feet long...? You have it in a 39 gallon tank? :(

Good for now, but they are notorious for stopping eating and not knowing why. 99% die within a month or two.

Why don't we just hold off on adding anything more to this small system... please...? In addition, you have a lot of (or want to have a lot of) fish that eat other fish. This is not a good mix, IMO.

Cheers
Mike
