Frogspawn and other corals look dead... Idk what it is

so all the corals were real good and all of a sudden all of them just started to close up?
Just checking, but didnt you say you have some type of shrimp? you sure its not the shrimp constantly walking over the coral or him picking on them
Do you have any type of crabs, (regular or hermits) or urchins. What type of fish you got?

I have a coral banded shrimp, a black oscellaris, another fish, I did have three snails, two hermit type crabs and a pencil urchin. This may change a lot, I kinda forgot about them lol but they slowly started to close more and more

i have a friend that had a frogspawn and it did the same thing. narrowed it down to the coral banded shrimp. The day he took it out, everything oppened up

Interesting, maybe I'll take it out and see if phishy will trade me that for another fish... Lol

The only thing is, they aren't just closed up, they are pulling from the skeleton too, maybe they do that when they are mad/not satisfied.

Who knows the names of my corals? I'm not totally sure! And I wanna know what other stuff I can get with them, for future when my tank is normal again

Usually my water evaporates from my system my salinity rises and I top off with fresh RODI water. When I do water changes, that is the only time I add salt (when mixing). As others said, invest in a refractometer, it will save you in the long run. You got a pretty large bioload in your 14 as well so keep up with the water changes and make sure your skimmer is cleaned monthly.

I do not have a skimmer, should i get one? what are other things i should get?

You don't necessarily need a skimmer if you do frequent water changes. It definitely wouldn't hurt having one.. I would run either some carbon or chemipure at least.

I see in your picture a sixline wrasse and a Midas blenny FYI. So you have one of those left. The Midas blenny which is the yellow/gold one will get a little big for your tank.

Could possibly be lack of water flow. You should add a Koralia nano in the biocube and give your corals an indirect flow.

Your lighting schedule is fine.

Okay awesome, I was going to get one to cause more agitation in water for more flow an oxygen. And I wanna get a media basket with chemo pure, purigens and filter floss. Good idea?

Great idea actually. In my biocube I have my protein skimmer and heater in chamber 1. a media rack with filter floss, chaeto algae, and seachem matrix in chamber 2. In chamber 3 I have chemipure and Purigen along with the return pump. I got rid of bioballs and the sponge between chamber 2 and 3. It may be overkill but I am a little heavy on livestock.

Oh nice! Have you had any problems in your tank and how long have you had it? I may do that because i plan on having three fish and more corals. With the algae, don't you need an led along with it? And what is seachem matrix?

I'm actually quite happy with my biocube after I did those mods plus I installed a DIY led kit from rapidled.com I've had this tank for 3 years now. My tank has a glass window on the back where my chaeto is, I have a fluorescent light I made shining in there to light the chaeto. Matrix is biofiltration media almost like live rock rubble that helps keep nitrates low. I think you'll be happy with the cube!

oh great! well i am not going to be able to do the chaeto due to my tank already being filled, other wise i would have to drain the whole thing! so i may just switch it up a bit! maybe do everything but the chaeto, unless i can put a light down there that can be submerged in water. Do you light it 24/7?

okay this may be a very dumb question... could my coral be dying/closing up because im not feeding them anything such as phytoplankton?

No very few corals need to be fed.. Most people who feed there corals only do so to speed their growth. When dealing with small tanks feeding will just cause the coral to outgrow the tank. Your corals only need light.
