Frogspawn bleaching

I've had this new coral for 4 days.. It's a good size colony with 5 big heads. Looked great when I picked it up and has been on the decline since it has been in my tank. It first deflated and I panicked. The LFS told me not to worry that deflating is normal. The next day it was looking alright. Then since yesterday I've noticed some shrinkage and bleaching on 2 of the heads. I need some help! If you need anymore information from me let me know.

I currently have the coral on the bottom corner of the tank getting slow-moderate flow.

Sorry no pics.

Tank size 58 gallon
sump/fuge 25 gallon
90 lbs LR
300w MH 10k bulbs
Turnover rate 1020 gph

PH 8.0
NO2 0
NO3 0
KH 180
GH 180
Calcium 460
Ammonia 0
Salinity 1.030

firstly, frogspawn isnt a soft coral, so you'd probably get more response from the LPS section on here.

You've got 300w of MH over a 58? Might be a bit much for a frogspawn if it hasnt been acclimated to that light. Mine always did better if i slowly brought it up closer to the light or shaded it under a ledge at first till it got used to the amount of light.

Also...you're salt level is at .030 which is a little higher than most run. I'd try lowering your salt level to .027 but not all at once maybe (you may shock everything else if you do it quickly). But what was the salt level at at the store you got if from? Knowing all my local stores, they tend to have the salt a bit lower than it should. If i were to take a stab at whats causing your coral to go, i'd say it was the rapid change in salt level. How long did you acclimate it for?

i acclimated it very poorly. i was in a hurry and let it sit in the bag on the water for like 30 minutes and then just put it in.

Well i would probably blame it on that then. You might as well have just thrown it in there, because floating it wont do anything besides get it used to the temp, but when your salt level is that high and the store's salt level was probably much lower, it basically has no chance if its changing that much.

Temp

Temp

double check the tempature.
I had 2 bad units so my temp was at about 88 degrees and everthing was bleeching. even my rose bubble tip.
never buy cheap thermometers either. I learned the hard way

I would not give up on it. I'd give it time and unless the heads disintegrate I think it can bounce back. I use my hammer/frogspawn to trade off in the hobby for credits at LFS/frags. I think I started off with 2 heads of each and have probably gotten 50 heads from them in 2 years.
