Frogspawn closing up at end of photo period?

I have a small 1 head frogspawn in my nano. When the lights go on it opens up and seems fine. However towards the end of the photo period, around 8 hours, it starts to shrink. I normally run my lights 10 hours.

Is this common? Is this because it's just anticicpating it getting dark?

Mine stays fully inflated until after the halides shut off (8 hours).

I used to run them 10-12 hours and it stayed inflated the whole time.

Could be temperature rise? Change in some other paramaters?

Mine tends to shrink an hour or 2 before the lights go out. I think some of them "learn" what time the lights go out. As long as it fully opens the next day, all is well.

My hammer does the same thing as your frogspawn. Looks miserable and deflated every night about 30 min to an hour before lights out. I've always thought it odd and wonder how can it appear to remember when it is time for lights out? Odd.

Alot of my corals do that actually. My xenias will close up just before the lights go out, and my star polyps too. They know we're watching...shhhh

I've got a candy cane that starts putting out a feeding tentacle or two right before the tank goes night cycle.
