Frogspawn flesh detached from skeleton

Today when i went to look at my tank before work my frogspawn was perfectly intact although shriveled as the light hadn't come on yet, i went to work and 8 hours later returned to my tank to see that the fleshy part of my frogspawn coral had vanished leaving only the hard skeleton. After some time searching around my tank i found the flesh part of the coral right at the back of my tank behind my rock work. Every other coral in my system has been fine and my hammer coral has also looked very healthy today. Recently the frogspawn has looked better than ever and has looked larger and had more vibrant colors. Has anyone else experienced this before?

sadly yes, have you noticed coral receding lately? I have never had luck getting fleshy part to survive, but I have tried placing them in a tupperware container with lr rubble and a slight lid to prevent predation or current issues. typically this doesnt happen unless their is a huge problem with water chemistry or heavy predation. sorry to hear

Its called polyp bailout.
Ive had a few in the past do this. I found a few articles in the search. Not necessarily due to water chemistry. Sometimes this is done when the colony is not happy in the area it is in . And also a way for the mother colony to reproduce off of the original colony branches.
Ive had 3 of the bailouts survive and start forming skeleton .
