Frogspawn problem Please help

Yes I added 1.023 salinity into the 1.028 tank to drop the salinity. I didn't have any fresh water RO water available.

I always thought to lower SG you add fresh rodi water over a span of time....Not add a lower SG to existing SG to lower it....That's like wiping before you poop, makes no sense to me...lol sorry

Ive been told to during water changes to drop salinity add a mixture that is slightly lower to drop it slowly. Adding freshwater ro is good for solving evaporation issues is what I've been told

How many gallons is the tank? Any time you change salinity you want to take a little time with it. But yours isn't that far off honestly.

If you don't have RO handy a couple of gallons of distilled from the grocery store can do the trick in a pinch.

The rate you add will depend on your total water volume.

The way I understand it is like this (I could be wrong though)...you set a SG of 1.026, over time evaporation occurs (water goes, salt stays) therefore rasing the SG, to bring the levels back you add fresh RODI water, which brings the SG back down to 1.026 (or whatever you set it at). To bring down the SG over time, you remove small amounts of saltwater, and replace with fresh RODI water until it comes back down to acceptable levels...If your adding salt water to salt water, your raising you SG (doesn't matter what the SG is)...If you add salt to salt, its going up, simple as that.

Thompson2224, When they did the tests, how many tests did you see them actually do. Did they test for Ammonia, Nitrites, Nitrates, PH, Cal, Alk, Mag, Phos & salinity?

What I cant understand is you changed 2 gallon (10%) and that changed your Phosphates just like that and also raised your salinity? That to strange? One minute is good then its bad but up to now they never told you actual figures. You better start asking more questions at your LFS.

The LFS checked salinity and used a dip strip test which I'm assuming tested ammonia ph nitrates nitrites and phosphate. I believe the phosphates were also depleted by a little algae growth but that was taken care of by snails and the clownfish. The salinity increased to 1.028 because when I was doing the water change I was under the impression the salinity was on the low side at around 1.023 and was shooting for 1.025 but I think my refractometer was off and have now recalibrated it

You better change your LFS. They did a (as 1 test) dip strip test that did all that? I really don't know who has a kit that does all that. That tests good for a FOWLR tank. When you doing a coral tank your LFS would know they have to check your Cal, Alk & Mag.

all it needs is 5 sec of your clown to try and host it and it might take hrs before your corals come out. Had the same problem with my clowns hosting my frogspawn and my green polyp toadstool. took them weeks before they got accustomed. The thing is you still have no idea what your Alk, Cal and Mag is. Couple mths back my friend had a similar problem. All his corals were good except his frogspawns. When he did check, his Alk was low 7's.

if it's only been a week i wouldn't start to worry too much yet.

get a handle in your salinity.
double check that alkalinity with a good test kit.

did you light acclimate it at all?

how much flow is it getting?

euphyllia tends to be a pretty versatile coral. i have my frogspawn in medium flow, but fairly high light under my LEDs about halfway up the tank. i have my torch kind of tucked in to a corner that is lower flow and lower light, and i have my hammer in a moderate flow, moderate light area on the other corner.

once they adjust and they're happy they are quite hardy in my experience.

did you dip it before adding it to the tank in anything?

have you checked your temperature? what is it? do you trust your therm?

what else is in the tank with it? are any other corals looking stressed?

Where can I get a good alk test and how much are they generally? I have it in low flow area in the sand because I heard they like low flow. My LFS said that with my lighting I could just add it into the tank, I have the fluval marine and reef 24in-34in model. I didn't dip it in anything. What should I have my salinity at? The temp is at 80 I have a heater set at 80 and the thermometer reads 80. I have zooanthid, star polyp, and a leather they look good to me. Here is recent pics of them

All your other coral look good so its really the possibility that it has not fully acclimatized yet as Mondobondo said.
