Frogspawn's Double D build

After many years of reef keeping I've finally decided it was time for a showcase build. Ive had many tanks in the past. A 150 tall, 110, 58, 55, then a consolidation to a 500g at my old house in the basement. Moved and put in a 200 (the 500 would have been serious work for the new house that already had a finished basement.)

So, a buddy of mine that owns a lfs had a 300 DD come available from a client of his after only being set up for 4 months.

Well, I pulled the trigger!!!

started to fill the tank last night so I have to start thinking about the plumping and pumps. I have a 200 gallon tank right below it using a iwaki 100. I might tap off that and send most of the flow to the 300. The 2oo will be stripped of most of its lighting, rock and corals and wont need as much flow. (thinking about mostly larger nonreef safe fish for that tank or some minor growouts for softies)

I will be pulling 2 400 watts MH off that system and maybe another 250w mh and move it upstairs.

I also have one mp60 for the new tank. Need to add another one soon.

Not sure if one iwaki 100(60-705) and 2 mp60 will be enough but better to slow walk then through money out on total overkill.

Any suggestions for this build is appreciated

Oh btw this is a question for other 300DD owners.

I've talked to many people in my area about the structural support of this size and most everyone thinks it will be ok. But no one has this exact tank.

This tank is only sitting on two 2x12!!! though its only two feet ftom the outside structure of the home and about 8 feet from the support beem on the other side. My basement is fully finished and dont want to put in a ugly *** pole in the center of my basement.

Does anyone have this type of setup and if so TELL ME I'LL BE OK:worried:

Got a few things done this week. Still nothing on the doors and finish work on the stand. But the plumping is done the substrate cleaned and water flowing.
Woot!!!
