Fry in fallow tank problem?

I am 4.5 weeks through a planned 8 week fallow period to rid my tank of ich.

I just noticed tonight a few tiny, tiny little fish (ie, tiny fry) swimming out from under a small rock. Unless there is some kind of invert that swims around, they must be fry, i guess. The only thing they could be are flame or fairy wrasses.

Anyway, will they die off quickly? What are they chances they could affect this purging process?

Gotta say that's pretty awesome if you have fry that have hatched in your aquarium. That said, they are definitely potential hosts for crypt. Not sure if it's even possible to remove and treat them, but until they are removed from the aquarium your fallow timer is suspended. You'll need to start over from zero once there are no more fish hosts in the tank.

i don't see what else they could be. they are clearly tiny little fish swimming around. i have no interest in trying to keep them... perhaps i will try and net them and get rid of them and then continue on, hope for the best. i'm certainly not starting over.

Possibly mysid shrimp. They hitch hike in with LR.

You can always get a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and dump it in there. It will become inert after about 24 hours in water and kill about any living thing in there. This is assuming there are no corals or anytjing you do want alive

While I think I understand why you think the lifecycle should explain why , "looking up" the life cycle of marine fish resulted in overly scientific papers that didn't apply, articles that spoke to marine ich (google see's marine and life cycle), or freshwater results.
The "article" below was the best I found in pages of looking. It of course does nothing to negate the fact the OP could have "fry" still in the larvae stage. It does negate the fact that they would survive for any extended period.

Regardless of the above, marine fish don't often breed in captivity, you would have likely seen eggs, and whatever you are fallowing your tank for would have likely ensured breeding wouldn't be successful.
Its not impossible, just way, way down on the scale of probability, which is why I just suggested mysid.
I don't have any idea on the probability of whether disease can survive on fry.

i can try and get a pic or video tomorrow. all i can say is that there are numerous things swimming around in one area that look like tiny, tiny fish.... they sure don't look like shrimp, just fish... but they are really small... i don't think they can be pods, they are moving quite quickly...

Good call, definately Mysid shrimp. Unmistakable swimming behavior in posted video (sort of a combo running/swimming). Good sized ones too.
